A Project Building the Future: Amani Education and the Kisaki School

On Monday, December 9, Talent Garden Milan hosted an extraordinary event: Amani Education Christmas 3.0. This unique evening of solidarity, organized by Amani Education ODV, aimed to raise funds for the construction of a secondary school in Kisaki, Tanzania. Featuring basketball challenges, a charity raffle, and appearances by renowned personalities from entertainment and sports such as Alvin, Filippo Tortu, and Simone Barlaam, the event raised over €25,000 and attracted more than 1,000 participants.

The Importance of a School for Kisaki

The project began in 2022, spearheaded by Giampaolo Ricci, captain of the basketball team Olimpia Milano, to uplift one of Tanzania's poorest regions, Singida. This area faces significant challenges due to the lack of educational infrastructure. After completing primary school (up to grade seven), many young people are forced to abandon their studies or migrate to more developed regions like northern Tanzania or the coastal areas. This exodus further impoverishes the region, stripping it of young talent and opportunities for economic and social growth.

The Kisaki school aims to reverse this trend. Located on land with a vital water resource, the project envisions an educational center managed by the Assumption Sisters. The school will be self-sufficient, supported by fish farming, a vegetable garden, and livestock rearing. In addition to traditional subjects, students will gain practical skills to become independent and contribute to the local community.

Progress Achieved and Next Steps

To date, donations have funded the construction and completion of classroom blocks, physics, chemistry, and biology labs, and restroom facilities. The goal for 2024 is to finish the dormitories, which are crucial for accommodating students and opening the school in September.

This ambitious project, with an estimated cost of €100,000, is advancing step by step, thanks to collective efforts. The school will not only serve as a place of education but also as a community hub, featuring a cafeteria, basketball court, and library.

Educating young people means building the future of a community. This project is a tangible opportunity to change the lives of many young people and strengthen the social fabric of a region that deserves a renewed sense of hope.
